When you travel to the major resort towns on the island numerous Montego Bay shopping experiences awaits you; but Jamaica offers a wide variety of places to shop and you are guaranteed to find every item on your list.

There are numerous in-bond stores, markets, shopping centers and villages for you to visit; an important thing to note when shopping anywhere on the island is that there is always a bargain.

However, if you are like many travelers who love to get bargains; then you have to go the local vendors, the shopping centers prices are fixed and there is no room to negotiate on items.

In this resort town you will get items from upscale stores to street vendors which includes, hand made crafts, imported perfumes and watches, jewelry and painting. If you are in the downtown area there is the Montego bay shopping Center plaza that has all the in-bond stores for your duty free shopping.

The main craft market in the town is called the Harbor Street Craft Market with shops selling everything that you can imagine. You will also find other shopping plazas if you are exploring the town.
If you are on the hip strip there are numerous stores in this location that offers shopping also, plus there are two other craft markets for you to browse.

As a matter of fact any side of the town that you are visiting there is somewhere for you purchase your items; if you go west to the shipping pier area there is a shopping plaza on the waterfront. If you venture further to the east of the town you will find the upscale villages giving you a different shopping atmosphere.

Crafts could be classified as the foundation throughout the resort towns and most of the markets that you will visit will have some items that are unique to that area. Some of the items that you can look forward to include purses, beach towels, baskets, hats, sandals, jewelry, sculptures, pottery, woven crafts, clothing and numerous other items.

When you visit the different markets you will see a lot of products that are made from straw, such as the basket, mats and wide hats; because of the density of these goods some locals will refer to the craft markets as straw market; so don’t be fooled.

There are some products that you will see in large quantities, for instance the clothing, sandals and more, which you will find in the colors red, green and yellow. These colors are symbolic of the Rastafarians and are inspired in the designs of a variety of items that are a big hit with travelers. Then you have the items in the Jamaican colors that are depicted on almost every item.

You will also find art galleries where you can get a mixture of crafts and paintings from local artists. Although most of the items can be found in the shopping centers, the craft markets are the best place if you are looking for really creative and authentic Jamaican products.

There cannot be a vacation without the shopping experiences as this is the highlight of the trip where you get to purchase souvenirs or any other temptations that you will come across. Most of the souvenirs that you will get would be from the popular ceramic animals, wood carvings and glazed pottery.
