Montego Bay Beach In Jamaica

With palm covering the hillsides leaning to the blue-green sea, Montego Bay beaches are sometimes referred to as the Riviera of Jamaica. With pristine white sands and alluring waters, some of the best beaches can be found in this resort town.

One of the famous attraction spot on the island is the Doctor’s Cave Beach which was one of the earlier pull factors for visitors to these shores. This beach was started by a doctor and his friends who use to bathe in this area with the only access from the caves; the caves were later destroyed in a hurricane.

It was believed that the water has curative powers, this led to its popularity and many travelers would flood this beach seeking healing; even many rich and famous individuals.

The beach was later donated to the community and it is now the Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club. The amenities include clubhouse with showers, changing rooms, a spa facility and the very popular Groovy Grouper beach bar and grill.

There is another beach that is in close proximity to the Doctor’s Cave, this is called the Cornwall Beach. This location is a central spot as it is close to most of the major hotels and is very popular spot for visitors and trips coming in from other parishes.

The beaches that are located on the “hip strip” are secured and there have resident lifeguards on the property. Each of these properties has their unique character and features that provide you with a fun filled day.

There are other beaches that are not located on the hip strip and are equally inviting, there is the Tropical and Rose Hall beach that is a little further out of the town.
